Though still a chilling thought, the prospect of a state(s) in the United States of America declaring bankruptcy is not as far-fetched as it used to be. What if it’s your state? What would the immediate aftermath look like?
For starters, you can expect an immediate shutdown of state-funded services and programs, followed by widespread panic, anger, and confusion amongst both the politicians and citizenry. You might see the President declare martial law to try to keep peace. Those who refuse to heed the rules of martial law could find themselves hauled off to FEMA camps or military bases.
Does this sound like an X-Files episode? Sort of. Who knows exactly how a bankrupt state scenario would play out? We would be in uncharted waters. One thing is for sure. You better be putting some of the Holistic Survival strategies into use just in case.
- 1. Stock your house with non-perishable food items and plenty of bottled water.
- 2. Get a portable camping stove because you can bet a bankrupt state is not going to leave the electricity on for you.
- 3. Stockpile hygiene items like deodorant, toothpaste, toilet paper.
- 4. Have at least one shotgun, rifle, or handgun and plenty of ammunition to defend yourself until order is restored.
- 5. Get to know your neighbors. There is power in numbers.
- 6. Learn how to get your money out of Wall Street products that are nothing more than a scam and invest it instead in residential income properties.
The previous items are just a few of the things you should think about in the event of a state’s financial collapse and, even if it doesn’t come to pass and the Fed bails them out at the last moment, you can bet your preparations will come in handy at another time.
